Plastic Free July
Posted by Samantha on 27th Jul 2021
As we near the end of July and our single use plastic free challenge I thought I would touch on our top 10 switches we have made in our home. If you want to check out some more swaps that can be made we have been posting daily on Instagram and Facebook a plastic free July post.
Now for our top 10 switches:
1. Use cloth nappies instead of disposables
2. Use stainless steel straws when needed and carry with us when out and about (a mini wetbag or cloth bag is easy to chuck these in).
3. Carry reusable cutlery when on the go to avoid having to use plastic.
4. Use reusable shopping bags including reusable fruit and veg bags like the ones we stock from ever eco.
5. Avoid cling wrap by using reusable food wraps, bags and food covers like those we stock from 4myearth.
6. Avoiding balloons when ever possible.
7. Using stainless steel drink bottles and carrying this anytime we go out of the house.
8. Using wetbags for wet swimmers, dirty clothes and dirty nappies so we don’t have to resort to plastic.
9. Buying baking supplies and herbs/spices from a bulk goods store so we can reuse our own jars.
10. Replacing plastic toothbrushes with bamboo and compostable toothbrushes.
The most important thing to remember is that we all can’t be perfect but we can all at least give it our best try.
